Greetings
Is there a way of seeing everything that belongs to a contact eg all the books or dvds that the person may have ?
Thanks Rob

Community Base Sharing

Greetings again
Ideally I would like to joing a community. This would need to have an arbitrator that would check that the person is not random. And then when the person has joined, have the ability see everything that the community is prepared to share.

What do you think ?
Thanks, Rob

List of e-mail to invite

Greetings

I am trying to setup a list of people in our community who would be prepared to share their stuff between them, and this seems to go some way to achieving this.

Any chance of being able to add a list of e-mails - my contacts are in Microsoft outlook, and its going to be quite tedious for me and them to add the whole community to their contact list. Additionally as a new member arrives, each person in the commuinity will need to add the new member into their list.
Thanks, Rob

List of e-mail to invite

Greetings
I am trying to setup a community base sharing system, and this seems to go someway to achieving it.

Any chance of being able to add a list of e-mail to invite in one go ? My contacts, unfortunately, are on Microsoft Outlook, so its going to be time consuming for me and the rest of the community to input each e-mail address belonging to the community. Additionally, as a new member joins the community, I will need to update the list and send it to them.

Thanks, Rob
PS haven't seen a lot of activity on the forum - how many users do you have ?

hello new design, goodbye old design

as promised here, we have a new design. first for the site, and in the next days also for the blog and forum.

we liked the old design. some things needed polishing.
the old design was a tad narrow on the shoulders, and people were telling us that the design may be too baby-ish to the point of confusing people as to the purpose of this site, and we did our best to fix these issues (getting feedback from many people on the way - thanks pruthie, ori, hila, soli, tamar, adi, adele and the rest of you out there).

a release candidate for the new design (homepage)

*update* - the new design is already here, you can see the forum topic covering it here, or read the blog post here.

I didn't get replies from the forum (for the post concerning the design changes here), however I'm glad to say I managed to milk them out of people, and today we've had another session with Dana, I think we have a real classic on our hands here.

new Traxtuff design

*update* - there's a follow up for this post here.
hi all!
this is your chance to make a difference.
I'm working with Dana on a new design, one that will benefit from the feedback we got so far.
below are two options we reached (I could post one but I'd like to get your opinion on a slight difference):

it can be embarassing to lend something to a new user

because new users don't know the site and can mistakenluy think this is a demand to get the item back.
I think it's important that the users can see the message that will be sent to the new user - and that it will contain a clarification about the nature of the site and lend request...

Approving borrows and lendings

at the moment when clicking "borrow" or "lend" (or "return" for that matter), the action is performed without approval from the other user. (for instance if I'm borrowing from Mike, I don't need Mike's approval to borrow an item from his list).

EVERYBODY requested that I change this, so now I'm working on it - this is how it's going to work, please comment if you have suggestions:
in this scenario
1) I want to borrow a bicycle from Wishcow
2) the bicycle isn't in the site yet (that is a bit more complex than the scenario where the bicycle IS in the site)

Reminding your friends to return stuff

A friend of mine asked if we're going to implement a mechanism that reminds your friends to return stuff that they borrowed from you.

He suggested an automated monthly reminder, which he thinks will be "a guilt-free way to nag your friends".

What do you think?

Notes on the new beta version

Hi Yonatan.

Here are some notes:

1. Ron & I both agree that once you do an action borrow or lend, there is no indication of what is happening until the other side approves. (The ball metaphor: once you pass the ball to another user you have no indication that you have to wait for the ball to return)

2. when i search CD I don't get anything even though I have 2 items with CD in their title

adding more items to the site

this is a big topic, many features can come out of it, I will describe some ideas.

so:
first are growing a community - getting the site useful to the first group of users.
the next step is to make the site more useful - increase the amount of items suggested on the site, so people will have more stuff to find there.
and we're there now, discussing our next steps.
so - first ideas I've been discussing with my favorite users:

* make adding items a more "active" part of the registration/"starting to use the site" process.
add a task list to complete registration,

some problems with invitations

1. i tried to invite a non-member friend to join. the system said that the invitation was not successful because the e-mail failed to be sent. i tried to invite the same user again, but the system said he was already on my invite list.

2. i invited a member to be in my contacts by clicking the "invite" button. i was then sent to the invite new user page. this is confusing - i wasn't sure if my invitation was sent or if i needed to do it through that page. a simple "invitation sent" message or something like that would easily clear such confusion.

keep up the good work!
