So what is traxtuff, and why?
Traxtuff is a place where you can keep track of stuff you lend to friends, and also search for stuff to borrow when you need it.
The Need
Traxtuff was created because I desperately needed a way to track the stuff I lend to people.
half of my books, CDs, DVD's etc are lent, and I can't remember to whom.
and I still have the electric saw I borrowed from Maor's dad, two years after I borrowed it. I will return it though - I just didn't remember I borrowed until I found it recently.
I could use a piece of paper, but I want something I can access from anywhere.
I could use an online document. that's good.
but then I want to organize a party, and I need:
1) Speakers
2) Amp
3) Connectors
4) Mixer
etc.
and I waste half a day on making calls and asking friends if they can lend me stuff.
so I want more than an online document - I also want to see what my friends are willing to lend me.
but, you protest - "I never borrow or lend anything to anyone" - well, perhaps this isn't the site for you. go to some shopping site... or start lending - it's fun.
About the Development
I've put the site online after only a few weeks' work, I ripped some code we had before, and didn't waste time polishing anything. I want this site to be completely driven by user feedback. and starting from the first week of development I've been getting it. mostly positive :)
until now I received mails and discussed stuff with friends any way I could, but I think it's important that I move the discussions to the forum we just created. so if you have complaints or suggestions - go there. (http://forum.traxtuff.com)
the site is always work in progress, I hope you find it useful.
